Welcome to a New School Year
Tom Bailey
Another exciting school year begins at Olney
ISD and whether you are a newcomer to our district or a returning
student, we welcome you!
It has been a very busy summer for the district and much has been
accomplished. Facilities continue to improve, new staff members
have joined the OISD team, new programs are in place and changes in
campus leadership have created a renewed sense of excitement. Many
positive things !
I am proud to announce that Olney Elementary School, Olney Jr. High
School, and Olney High School all achieved the “RECOGNIZED” rating
from the Texas Education Agency. Excellent teachers, hard working
students, and a supportive community make this level of excellence
attainable for our campuses. To all of these folks, I offer a
heartfelt, “Thank you!”
Once again, OISD received a “Superior Rating” on our Financial
Integrity Rating System of Texas Report (FIRST). The FIRST Report
is an indication of the financial status of the district and
“Superior” is the highest rating a district may receive. During
these tough economic times our country is facing, we want to assure
you Olney ISD takes the responsibility for our tax dollars very
seriously.
Our theme for the 2009-2010 school year is “EVERY CHILD.” We are
committed to provide challenging curriculum delivered by highly
qualified staff members to EVERY CHILD. We will work to involve
EVERY CHILD in meaningful extracurricular activities and
co-curricular opportunities that will build character and good
citizenship. We will provide EVERY CHILD with a safe, modern and
well maintained learning environment.
Our goal is for EVERY CHILD to obtain a high school diploma from
Olney ISD along with a plan for a successful and rewarding
life.
Thank you for your continuing support of our Olney ISD and our
students.
GO CUBS!
Superintendent
