Fourth Grade Home Reading

Student are required to do home reading this year.  Students will be expected to read a minimum of 5 nights a week for at least 30 minutes each night.  Reading must be logged in the reading folder.  The folder will be due every Friday and must have a parent signature each week.

Students must earn 10 Accelerated Reading points each six weeks in order to receive a 100 for their home reading grade.  Only chapter books are accepted for home reading in fourth grade.  Students will be able to use A. R. points that are accumulated to purchase items at the A. R. store in December and at the end of the year.

Grading scale for the home reading requirements:

10 points - 100 home reading grade

9 points - 90 for home reading grade

****BOOKS WE READ IN CLASS DO NOT COUNT AS HOME READING POINTS****

Students will receive the AR points for the books we read in class and can spend those points at the AR store

On occasions homework may be sent home, but most of our work will be class work.  In class we will be reading chapter books, working on vocabulary, writing retells, and working on various skills.

My conference time is 8:10 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. each morning.  Please feel free to contact me for a conference when you have a concern or question.

Thank you for your support,
