High School: Enrichment Program

Mandatory Enrichment Program

October 11, 2007

Olney High School Mandatory Enrichment Program

In order to assist our students who are in need of extra academic assistance, we have incorporated an enrichment time in our schedule. This enrichment time will run form 1:15 - 3:20 each Friday and will be mandatory for students who:

  • Fail one or more portions of the TAKS test.
  • Fail to meet ARD expectations on one or more portions of the SDAA test.
  • Fail to meet ARD expectations on one or more portions of the LDAA test.
  • Fail to meet attendance requirements.
  • Failing in any subject area.
  • Fails to turn in homework.

Students will be assigned to a particular teacher for enrichment and roll will be taken each Friday. If a student who is required to attend enrichment does not attend, he or she will be considered truant and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including filing charges against the student and parent in municipal court for failure to attend school.

If a student fails more than one TAKS section, he or she will be placed in the enrichment program for the TAKS section in which he or she was farthest behind. Students who are not in need of the enrichment program (those who have passed all sections of the state testing requirements) will not be required to attend. Any student who is not required to attend enrichment class but who wishes to receive extra help will be allowed to sit in the enrichment time, provided he or she is not a discipline problem
